War Memorial Opera House
Located in the Civic Center area, the War Memorial Opera House is impressive for its architecture and its modern facilities. The house seats over 3,000 for operas, ballet, and various concerts.

San Francisco Symphony
Led by the charismatic Copland protégé Michael Tilson Thomas (or MTT for short), the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra is a world-class orchestra known for its emphasis on American composers.

Castro Theatre
The Castro regularly hosts film festivals including foreign, classic, and avant-garde productions. The Castro seats about 1,500 and though some of those seats aren't so comfortable, the large, classic room and the Wurlitzer organ make the Castro a fun venue.

Orpheum Theatre
This 2,200 seat auditorium saw recent renovation in 1997 and is now a comfortable and state of the art facility. The Orpheum regularly hosts nationally touring musicals and has recently seen the likes of Hello Dolly and Cabaret. Parking is very difficult in this part of town, but a variety of public transit lines serve Market Street.
